Our Achievements

The Young Shepherds’achievements from the year 1997-2020 included the followings:

  • Revamped TYS’ Website and restructured the Board ofTrustees and voluntary staff-2020,
  • Wrote a Covid-19 Disaster Response Grant and received an award of $3,000 from Fargo-Moorhead Area Foundation, USA, and with that money,assisted 55 people that include: people contracted by Covid-19 pandemic, people with disabilities, widows, elderly people (men & women), single mothers, and commission to some project workers, USA-2020,
  • Trained two community members in healthcare in Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program through Lakes & Prairies Community Action Partnership office in Moorhead, Minnesota State, USA-2018,
  • Collaborated with the Cultural Diversity Organization and developed TYS’ temporary Brochure and business cards-2017,
  • Donated cash 30,000 South Sudanese Pounds (SSP) for the purchase of 10 pieces of Iron Sheets for establishment of “Wandi Diocese” in Mundi East County, South Sudan-2016,
  • Negotiated with the Vice President of Sanford Health office in Sioux Falls, USA for  establishment of Sanford International Clinic in South Sudan -2016,
  • Participated in the organization of Church Song Group Celebration at St Thomas Parish Church of Episcopal in Munuki, Juba-South Sudan-2015,
  • Laid foundation for the establishment of MTN Telephone Ariel at Lakama’di Payam-2015,
  • Delivered Textbooks to Global Nursery and Primary School at Gu’delle West, Juba, South Sudan-2015,
  • Procured and delivered Maternity Beds to the Maternity Center in Lakama’di Primary
    Healthcare Unit in Lakama’di Payam, Mundri East County-2015,
  • Lobbied for establishment of MTN Telephone Ariel at Kedi’ba Payam, South Sudan-2014,
  • Wrote Road Project and conducted a feasibility study on Rokon-Minga-Kedi’ba-Lakama’di feeder Road-2014,
  • Recruited 9 healthcare workers for Primary Healthcare Units in Great Mundri County Sponsored by MRDA- 2013,
  • Donated $100 and participated in the reconstruction of“‘Buli Bridge”, Kedi’ba Payam, Mundri East County- 2013,
  • Donated $100 forconstruction of a proposed Hydro Electric Power project at Gbigbi on Yei River in 2012,
  • Donated Five pieces of Iron Sheets to Minga Payam forconstruction of Minga Payam Administrative Office in Mundri East County-2012.
  • Conducted a conference on Peace Education, Conflict Resolution and Managementin Lakama’di Payam-2012,
  • Organized an outreach program and sponsored Christmas Celebration in Lakama’di Archdeaconry Parish Church, South Sudan-2012,
  • Wrote Road Project and worked with the South Sudan Central Ministry of Roads and Bridges forreconstruction of 61 miles Mundri-Amadi-Lakama’di-Tali-Yirol Road-2015,
  • Advocated for construction of 8 classrooms for Lessi  Primary School, Mvolo County by South Sudan General Ministry of Education and Instruction.  Juba-South Sudan-2011,
  • Constructed a store and an office for Tegya Primary School- 2011,
  • Initiated establishment of Global Nursery and Primary School at Gu’delle West, Juba-South Sudan-2010,
  • Raised Funds and delivered building materials (102 pieces of Iron sheets and 45 bags of Cement) for construction of Tegya Primary School in Mundri East County- 2010,
  • Received money, a sum of $700 from the Lutheran First Congregational United Church of Crist (UCC), North Dakota, USA, and raised additional funds and shipped 140 LB of medical equipment and medication donated by HERO to Lui Hospital in Mundri East County in South Sudan, Western Equatoria State. However, these were confiscated by the government of Khartoum. Two bags managed to arrive Juba, South Sudan but after they have become outdated-2008,
  • Donated 25 bags of Cement for construction of Lakama’di Archdeaconry Parish Church in Lakama’di Payam, Mundri East County-2007,
  • Conducted feasibility study in Juba Civil Hospital, Juba-South Sudan-2007,
  • Advocated for South Sudan Government’s Policy for implementation of Adult Education program among the Southern Sudanese communities-2007,
  • Advocated for HIV/AIDS Awareness program among School Girls in Malakal Secondary School, South Sudan-2007,
  • Wrote Water Project and collaborated with OX-Farm UK Organization and drilled 10 boreholes in Mundri East County-Western Equatoria State, South Sudan-2007,
  • Conducted sewing machine training for New Americans living in Fargo, North  Dakota, USA -2005,
  • Paid visit and organized community meeting on peace education and donated 30 rolls of Khaki clothes for school uniforms of 5 Primary schools in Lakama’di Payam-2004,
  • Wrote health projects and collaborated with MRDA for construction of PHCU in Lakama’di Payam-2004,
  • Sponsored eight South Sudanese students in Uganda from 2003-2007,
  • Established five Primary Schools and constructed 18 classrooms on a voluntary basis with the community in Mundri East County using local building materials-2002,
  • Struggled with the Federal government of North Dakota State, USA, registered and obtained a tax exempted 501(c)(3) Code for the Young Shepherds (TYS)-2001,
  • Raised money from the Greater Mundri County Community in the U.S. and fixed the broken Ambulance of Lui Hospital in Mundri East, South Sudan-2000,
  • Collected 185 used clothes from Cairo-Egypt and shipped to the needy people in  Lakama’di Payam, Western Equatoria State in South Sudan-1997.
  • Donated a sum of $500 for shipping of used clothes from Egypt to Southern Sudan-1997.
